Louisiana State Police have released new video evidence in the investigation of a fatal crash involving former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy. The incident occurred on December 17, 2024, on Louisiana Highway 20 near Chackbay, resulting in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Lacy, who died by suicide in April 2025, was posthumously charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving.
The newly released footage, compiled from over 20 surveillance recordings, shows a green Dodge Charger—believed to be driven by Lacy—speeding in the wrong lane and aggressively passing multiple vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, in a no-passing zone. Moments later, a crash is heard. Police maintain that while Lacy’s vehicle did not physically collide with others, his illegal maneuvering in oncoming traffic led to the fatal chain reaction. An eyewitness account also identifies the green Charger as the catalyst for the crash.
